The Project

What is

BOXED?

"BOXED" is a service group which produces sustainable paper packaging and supplies from old resources to upcyle to brand new. The concept originated from a student's Personal Project and has since established partnership with the NIST Rooftop service group in order to bring about more meaningful and sustainable change. After establishing prototypes and gathering thorough research for potential products, we are proud to announce that first products have been released and the collaboration with the NIST Rooftop is well on its way to establish a more sustainable school community.

We invite any members who share a passion for environmental sustainability to get involved in the process - whether it be by contributing recyclable resources, â€‹helping out in the production process or promoting the products within the community - every contribution is a step towards change!

Our partnership with the NIST Rooftop has enabled BOXED to become one step closer to making a real difference in the community. They have been involved in planning, developing and even implementing our products within their system. My name is Hannah, I am one of the first members of BOXED. My interest in environmental sustainability and passion for art has found its home within this service group.

Producing a range of biodegradable products, we also enable a sense of responsibility in the community. Responsibility towards the environment around us and the consequences which our consumptions have on the environment. Our products range from sustainable paper to plant based dyes and general supplies for packaging and crafts. We aim to re- educate packaged thinking and enable communities to think out of the BOXED!

Exciting News!

Sustainability (in Rice!): A Student's Perspective

Promoting sustainability can take many different forms. While BOXED looks at sustainability within packaging, it is ever as important to also consider the importance within the produce which we consume! During an their internship week, NIST students, some part of BOXED, we able to participate in order to investigate the importance of sustainability in rice. This correlates with some aspects of which BOXED also covers. You can have a closer look on the official website of the project they took part in: https://www.asean-agrifood.org/a-students-perspective-on-sustainable-rice/
